  3. Throughout my school years at Tonypandy Grammar the mid was our home venue for the school hockey team matches and we also trained on it . Most of our away games at the time were on red gravel pitches but you couldn’t beat a hockey match on a grass pitch and we rarely were “beaten” on that grass pitch.

  4. I grew up in Ely Street in the 70s and 80s, so "The Track" as we called it was a massively important part of my childhood. Playing football and cricket, climbing trees, attending summer play schemes, competing in school house sports days, and many other, almost forgotten activities. What a tremendous asset it has been for so many of us in Pandy. A sincere thank you to everyone who has worked so tirelessly to ensure its survival. Diolch yn fawr iawn i bawb.πŸ˜€πŸ€ΈπŸ™‚⚽🏏

  5. I remember as a Tonypandy Grammar pupil being made to walk up there in winter in T shirt and shorts to "play" hockey. I put it in inverted commas because I can't say what I did resembled actually playing the game much. Never did get the hang of that running around hitting the ball lark.

  8. I played rugby for Wales against England there many, many times and we never lost a game. Shame there was only three England players on their side. School sports days were also very special and a great place to catch slow worms.

  10. Jumpers for goal posts! Playing rugby during P.E lessons at school. Sometimes cricket.. old fellers playing golf! Rolling in the grass with girlfriends.. and over the past 2 decades I've met some lovely people whilst walking the dog. It has a wonderful view and is a huge asset to the area.

  11. Please keep the Mid. It’s a great area, why spend so much on Clydach Vale, Penygraig is forgotten. I’ve seen lots more activity in Mid even now as the work has started, proves it will get used and appreciated.
